As Director, she is responsible for the overall operations of the facility and is also responsible for guest services, hospital relations, internal and external communication efforts, on-going fundraising initiatives, community outreach, as well as, volunteer recruitment and engagement. While attending the University of California, Santa Barbara, Short was a critical care patient following a devastating car accident that took place in southern California. After a terrifying phone call, her mother and father traveled on a moment’s notice to be by her side. They stayed to support her every step of the way throughout her far from home hospital stay. Years later, after making a full recovery, moving home and completing her undergraduate education, the opportunity to help build Terry’s House was presented to Christa … because of her personal experience and passion to help people, it resonated with her immediately. She jumped in full force during the early years of the capital campaign as part of the Community Medical Foundation team and Short later transitioned into her current role once the $5 million homelike facility was constructed and opened in early 2011. She’s been working tirelessly since, to ensure that over 6,000 families to date have had the most comforting support possible during their uncertain and stressful time in Fresno while staying at Terry’s House. In her past endeavors, Short worked as the Director of Marketing and Communication for OK Produce.
